Title: "Prominent
Figures from Different Countries"
Year of Publish: 1952
Origin: Shang Hai, China
Number of prints: -
Size: About 55x75cm
¡@
Notes: Who's prominent? Who's great? What's the
definition in early 50's? For Chinese people at that time, there were no
other options but Mao and Stalin. This kind of who's who poster
can be taken as the first episode of any Chinese propaganda poster
collection. Needless to say, they are among the hardest to
find. In fact, this particular poster comes from a series of about
6-8 varieties (I am really not sure about it and I have only managed to
get hold of 4 varieties, saw another two a couple years ago but did get
them (poor me!) and heard of another 2 so far.
Liu Shao-qi and He Long are on the right side of Mao.
In another version of mine, there is Lin Biao and other founders of the
CCP. Will try to upload it later.

"The Successful Launching of the 1st Man-made Earth Satellite is a
Great Achievement of the Thoughts of Mao Ze-dong"
Year of Publish: 1972
Origin: Yun Nan, China
Number of prints: -
Size: This is a 3-in-1 large size
poster in unassembled condition (each panel at about 55x75cm)
Notes: 3-panel posters are precious mainly
because:
(1) It is far more difficult to preserve them due to their large size;
(2) They are generally printed in much smaller
quantity;
(3) They were not intended for sale but
for display in party offices; it was difficult to buy them even in those
days.
(4) So far, only about 20 varieties of such 3
panel posters had been identified. Will there be more titles?
There is no official records found yet.

Title:
"Holding high up the Flag of Proletarian Internationalism!"
Year of Publish: Late 50's
Origin:
Number of Prints:
Size: Special size at about
50x100cm
Notes: A understanding woodblock
style poster from early 50's. Chinese characters on the flag:
"All Proletarians over the World United Together!". It's
stunning, straight-forward and symbolic way of expression seems to
origin from World War II poster but is more skillful and has much higher
artistic appeal. The color of hands represent the colors of races,
the whites, the blacks and the yellowish Asians, and the red flag
represents the proletarian allied force. Rare to find of
course.
